Day 29-May 16

2 Thessalonians 2-3; 1 Corinthians 1

Observation: 1 Corinthians 1 is a great reminder that God does not work the way our world does. It is not about the person who teaches, it is not about how impressive the message is, it is not about the person who believes. It is all about Jesus and His sacrifice to save us.

Question: Is God causing people to believe lies in 2:11? This entire chapter is difficult, but it seems if we read verse 10 and 11 together they agree with the rest of scripture which says that the people could have believed, they chose not too, and God responded by causing them to believe this lie. There is a point in which a person becomes too hardened to believe. Thank God for His patience that allows us to come to repentance.

Application: I want to live eagerly awaiting the return of Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Father please encourage my heart and the hearts of your children and strengthen us for every good work and word.

One Comment

  1. In 1 Corinthians 1, Paul encourages his readers to be of the same mind in reference to the truth of the Gospel. One source claims there ate 41,000 different Christian denominations. If we accept this number or not, it points to a sad fact that in many instances we have allowed traditions and other things to divide us making our global witness for the truth of the Gospel weaker.
