GRACE: God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense
Paul reminds the Ephesians that even though they had been pagan idol worshipers, (remember in Acts 19 when Demetrius started a riot when Paul disrespected Diana (Artemus), the goddess of the Ephesians) and took part in the detestable idol worship practices, their sins were forgiven through Christ’s blood. It didn’t matter how good or bad they had been. It didn’t matter what they did now, their debt had been paid. Paul welcomed them into the same family of God that had been promised to the Jews. We and the people we know have the same promise: Christ died for all: Ephesians 2: 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. (NKJV)
