  1. Many things in these chapters seem counter-cultural: Paying workers the same if they worked ten hours or one, being a slave to achieve greatness, being last to be first. What does this tell us? That living our lives to be accepted by this world is not living to serve God. We must be willing to accept things that seem unfair: an unanswered prayer, not being recognized for a contribution of time, stepping aside to allow someone else to move forward. We serve an eternal God. Eternity should be our focus where ultimately the fairness of God is revealed.
