Mark 10-12

When I see Jesus confound the religious leaders by quoting the words of David about his son also being his Lord, I acknowledge that God’s ways are higher than ours. I figure they thought they understood that verse. What truths from scripture are we missing in terms of God’s ways being higher than our own?

  1. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ (Mark 12:30). Jesus is quoting Deuteronomy 6:5, and gives me the impression that I should become a monk and live in isolation glorifying God. But then how could I love my neighbor (verse 31)? This conflict points out that God’s ways are higher than ours. God expects us to show our love for him in everything we do through our time, our talents and our resources. When we truly dedicate our lives to God, as Jesus commands, our neighbors see the effects in our work, our hobbies, and our demeanor. When we commit our lives to Him, our love overflows into our neighbor’s lives. The world does not understand this, but it is God’s way,
