Here are some details and information for planning for YEC (Youth Evangelism Conference)-
We will leave on Friday (Jan. 17) at 3:30pm from Beulah. We have people coming from Regents, Louisa, and Fluvanna (and a couple of other places). We may need some assistance getting students to Beulah. It would be helpful if you would let me know if this works for you or if you need help getting your student(s) to Beulah by this time.
We will eat dinner before the conference begins Friday night.
After the conference, we will check-in at the hotel. The hotel info is below. The rooms have 2 Queen beds and a couch bed. I understand that some schools and other groups have different ways they handle hotel rooms. The church is paying for the hotel rooms and the van for transportation. The plan will be for a chaperone to be in each room with several students. The chaperone will sleep in one bed or the couch by themselves. Students will have to share beds. Students can bring an air mattress or a sleeping bag if that is more comfortable, but we can’t afford to pay for one bed per student.
Usually there is a group of students who want to do a polar plunge. If that is your student, they should plan to bring swimwear, a towel, and sandals for the beach.
Breakfast will be provided at the hotel before we head back to the conference Saturday morning.
We have a lunch break from the conference and we will go to a local mall to eat and walk around during the break.
The conference ends at 3:30 on Saturday. We may stop for a snack on the way home. We expect to return to Beulah by 6, but we can have students text parents after we make it through the tunnel for a more accurate time.
Here is the suggested packing list:
- Money for meals as listed and additional money if students want to purchase anything at the conference booths or the mall.
- Bible and perhaps a pen and notepad if your student takes notes.
- Sleepwear, clothes for Saturday, and polar plunge items if relevant.
- Toiletries.
- Extra bedding and pillows if desired.
- A device for entertainment while traveling.
- There will be a lot of sitting so if that is hard for your student and they want to draw or they have something to fidget with quietly, that could be good.
Let me know if you have any questions in addition to the requested info about getting students to Beulah on Friday.
